    Cash or Credit?

I've never had a credit card in my life and never wanted one and have no intention of ever having one. I also very rarely use cash. At the moment I have about £2 and some change in my pocket. It's been there for ages and I want to get rid of it. I haven't even seen any down-and-outs on the...

Have you ever had to go back and learn something of your own?

That's the situation I'm in for the most part. I don't think I could tell you the chords or chord structures of most of my pieces ! I do have the rough chords of a few of them written down somewhere but I'm not going to play them once recorded, so there's no point in having them around.

    New Native Instruments Double Bass

Just as an experiment {and based on your recommendation some months back} I used the Kontakt one in the mid-section of one of my songs. It's OK but to be honest, I can tell it's a sample, even though I messed about with the EQ to try to make it sound authentic. I should have used my double bass...

Have you ever had to go back and learn something of your own?

I'm a pretty prolific writer, writing far more melodies, harmonies and instrument parts for loads of songs over the years - way more than I've had the time to record and keep up with. I hum them into my dictaphone and every so often transfer the files to the computer, the thinking being "Well at...

    New Native Instruments Double Bass

It has its moments and for non-double bass players it's probably ideal. I do think the examples given on their page are a bit strange for double bass. After 8 years of searching for the ideal double bass VSTi, I gave up and just bought an actual double bass back in 2012. It hurts my upper body...

how do i stay on beat in rap

I did the first couple of times, but then, it became quite easy. If I ever do use a click, I've become adept at moving with, against, off or around the beat of the click. The essential thing to always keep in mind is that the click/metronome is a timing reference, nothing more, nothing less. It...

    Technology That Changed Recording History

This more than anything changed recording history. It unchained the imagination and showed ordinary people that they could make more resounding stuff than any classical composer ever did.
